The Gate is a multi-functional community arts centre in the heart of Cardiff. Sculpted from a historic listed building, it is a facility for expression and training in a variety of arts disciplines.

Recently named by Cardiff University’s student magazine Quench as one of Cardiff’s 50 ‘undiscovered gems’, The Gate is a real treasure chest of inspiration for the local community.

At The Gate, we pride ourselves on the sheer variety of creative and vibrant events happening throughout the year – whether your taste is classical music recitals, contemporary theatre productions or original art exhibitions, we believe there is something for everyone at The Gate.

The Gate plays host to more than 35 regular classes aimed at introducing babies, children, young people, families and adults to the arts.
These include many singing, writing, exercise and many styles of dance. These classes cater for varying degrees of ability and make use of The Gate’s large and beautiful theatre space and studios.

The Gate also houses a popular café bar where you can sample a range of wines and beers from around the world, or simply relax in the stylish surroundings with a cup of coffee and some homemade cake. Regular events at the Café Bar include the Monday night Quiz, Thursday night Open Mic, and monthly Jazz and Science Cafés.
